Western Piedmont Convergence
Please mark your calendar and join us for the Western Piedmont Convergence, a community gathering that brings together residents, advocates, volunteers, organizers, and local leaders to learn, connect, and strengthen civic engagement.
This event will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from10:00 AM – 3:00 PM ET at the Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center(2921 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208).
Communities are strongest when people are informed, connected, and engaged. Common Cause NC, Carolina Migrant Network, Indivisible, CREED NC, Charlotte Democracy Center for Common Ground, Indivisible CLT, Charlotte Mecklenburg NAACP, U2U, Democracy NC, Indivisible Gaston, and Blueprint NC are partnering on this non-partisan event.
This is an opportunity for participants to learn about the current civic landscape, share resources, and discover meaningful ways to stay involved in their communities before, during, and after the 2026 election.
Topics will include voter education and election protection, understanding what's on the ballot, including the importance of local and down-ballot races, community resources to help voters prepare for Election Day, and opportunities to volunteer, advocate, and stay engaged in civic life.
The Western Piedmont Convergence is a space to connect with neighbors, community organizations, and local leaders who are committed to informed participation and strong communities. Whether you are attending to learn, volunteer, or build new partnerships, your participation is valued.
This event is free and open to the public. Community members, volunteers, advocates, faith leaders, nonprofit organizations, and anyone interested in civic engagement are encouraged to attend.

Join ICLT for our 4th time marching in the Charlotte Pride Parade on Sunday, August 16th from 12:30-2:30 PM.

Good Trouble Lives On: Press Conference & Rally
Charlotte community members, faith leaders, and grassroots organizations will come together July 17–19 for Good Trouble Lives On, a weekend of action and numerous events honoring the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis and promoting voting rights, civic engagement, and community power.
Charlotte is taking part in a national effort inspired by Lewis’s call to make “good trouble” in the face of injustice. Local organizers are planning three days of action rooted in the national theme: Teach. Reach. Preach.
The weekend will kick off on Friday, July 17, with a press conference and rally hosted by Indivisible CLT and League of Women Voters from 10:30 am to 12 pm at Pearl Street Park (1200 Baxter Street, Charlotte), that will bring together local leaders and coalition partners to honor Lewis’s civil rights legacy and call attention to the ongoing need to protect voting rights and strengthen democracy. Congressman John Lewis risked his life for voting rights, most famously on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. His legacy is not only one of courage, but of disciplined, nonviolent, persistent action. Good Trouble Lives On is a reminder that democracy depends on ordinary people choosing to act.

Join ICLT's Gen-Z + Millennial group at Common Market Plaza Midwood! Help us assemble kits with hygiene and comfort items for neighbors experiencing homelessness. We’ll grab coffee or food at Common Market, put the kits together, and for anyone who wants to also distribute, we’ll take them to Uptown around noon (~10 min away).
This event is completely free to attend. If participants are able, $10 toward kit items would be greatly appreciated!

May 1: People Over Profits
May Day is a national day of action supporting Workers over Billionaires. Indivisible Charlotte, The Redress Movement, alongside faith leaders, community advocates and residents, will host a press conference and march calling for accountability from local corporations Atrium Health and Duke Energy.
Together we will demand that our families, children, and workers come first, not corporate profits.
Our People Over Profits event will highlight how rising housing costs and increasing energy rates are making it harder for working families to afford to live in Charlotte.

In the Know Live: Timothy Snyder
On April 30th, Indivisible Charlotte is hosting preeminent historian Professor Timothy Snyder for an insightful discussion about freedom, based on his recent New York Times Bestseller book On Freedom. Professor Snyder’s On Freedom challenges the common “negative" definition of freedom — the absence of government interference — and proposes a “positive" vision where freedom is the ability to create and choose your future. In addition to discussing other topics from his book, we will ask Professor Snyder to connect these topics to what is happening in the USA today - and most importantly, how do we prepare for what comes next. Timothy Snyder holds the Temerty Chair in Modern European History at the Munk School, University of Toronto, and is a permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. His books, which have been published in over forty languages, include Bloodlands, Black Earth, On Tyranny, The Road to Unfreedom, Our Malady and On Freedom.

What began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever.
When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence.
On March 28th, rise up, take to the streets, and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings. We’re not watching history happen—we’re making it. Join us.
